Meet: the Cafe Flora Family
You may want to sit down for this. One of the biggest names in Seattle’s vegetarian food scene, Cafe Flora, is adding a better-for-you bakery to the fam.
Introducing The Flora Bakehouse, a wholesale brand-turned-cafe and event space that’s opening in spring 2020.
Where It All Began
Not familiar with the Cafe Flora team? You’re about to be. The OG, the leader of the pack, the one that started it all is—you guessed it—Cafe Flora. A standout among local vegetarian mainstays, the eatery has been serving up creative veggie dishes from its plant-filled Madison Park space for nearly 30 years.
The restaurant sources many of its ingredients from local Washington farmers, creating a second-to-none selection of seasonal breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates. And don’t sweat it if there are some things you can’t eat, Cafe Flora does its best to accommodate everyone.
Airport Sensation
Small but mighty, Cafe Flora’s sister concept, Floret, is a shining beacon of hope for airport food. Like the original restaurant, this airport eatery focuses on fresh, local — not to mention delicious — vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Situated in Sea-Tac’s Concourse A, near gate A1, it boasts both a large, airy, wonderfully designed sit-down dining space (you may just want to snap a few pictures) and a grab-and-go counter where travelers in a hurry can snag their coffee and cinnamon roll (it’s vegan) on the fly.
What’s Next
With two thriving eateries under their belts, the only thing missing was a sweets shop. And the Cafe Flora family is delivering.
A soon-to-be Beacon Hill staple, The Flora Bakehouse is opening in spring 2020. It will continue to serve as a wholesaler to its siblings while also operating as a cafe and event space that will be open to the public.
As for the menu, you can count on a few Cafe Flora classics that you know and love along with seasonal pastries inspired by the PNW. Of course, it’ll also whip up mouthwatering vegan and gluten-free baked goods (we haven’t forgotten about you, friends!).
Whether you’re looking for a solid Sunday brunch spot, a quick bite as you run to your gate, or a hot croissant right out of the oven, the Cafe Flora family has your back — and isn’t that what families are for?
